TRIO (UBMS) Program at Marian University

At Marian University, we believe that every student has the potential to achieve greatness, no matter their background. Our Upward Bound Math and Science (UBMS) program is here to nurture that potential by providing opportunities for high school students from underserved communities to explore the exciting fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). As part of the federally funded TRIO initiative, [links to https://www.ed.gov/grants-and-programs/grants-higher-education/trio-home-page] the UBMS program helps first-generation college-bound students and those from low-income families take the next steps toward achieving their dreams of higher education and careers in STEM.

The UBMS program offers free educational support services, designed to empower students with the knowledge, skills, and motivation needed to succeed in both high school and college. Throughout the academic year and during our transformative six-week summer academy, students will benefit from personalized support in five key areas: Academic Support and Achievement, College Enrollment Planning, Career Exploration, Financial Education, and Personal Development.

The program is designed for students who are eager to explore the STEM fields and grow intellectually and technically. Through hands-on, collaborative activities, participants will develop the skills they need to thrive in college and beyond.

Each year, we welcome 62 students from the Fond du Lac and North Fond du Lac school districts to join this transformative program.
