Nicholas Schumacher

Assistant Professor, Business

Nick Schumacher is a faculty member at the Marian School of Business. He teaches courses in finance, business, and economics. His interest in teaching post-secondary was first sparked as an undergraduate at UW-Green Bay and later reinforced in graduate school while teaching as a TA at UW-Milwaukee.

He has a passion for learning and teaching, enjoys working with students, and is driven by the constant challenges of the profession. His proclivity for student learning has earned him different teaching awards, both while working as a faculty member at Marian University and previously while at UW-Milwaukee.

Nick’s teaching philosophy is currently focused on four tenets: (1) the role of content and the facilitator, (2) closing loops through assessment and feedback, (3) revealing assumptions, and (4) building relationships through genuine engagement. He places great emphasis on rationality, critical thinking, current events, routine assessment, and pragmatic curriculum.

He serves on different committees and helps advise the Business Club. He oversees the Finance and Accounting programs, such as with accreditation and program review. If you want to talk about these programs and collaborate, come in as a guest speaker, or teach any business-related courses, reach out to him via email or LinkedIn.

Nick’s personal interests outside of work are walking, musky fishing, canoe fishing, exploring northern Wisconsin lakes, gardening, and gaming. As a fun fact, he used to be a guild master and raid leader of a World of Warcraft Horde guild named Obsidian Spur for many years.
