Director of Writing and Reading Services

Merle has had many roles at Marian University from Director of the Writing and Reading Center to Adjunct Instructor of English to Advisor. Each role allows him to engage and assist students in different ways and for different reasons. While his educational background is in English, Journalism, Writing, and Pedagogy, he enjoys learning any and all information that he can. He advocates for usage of community libraries and he frequents his regularly to learn about anything that piques his interest. It is these experiences that influence his approach to working in higher education; which is an approach focused on empathy and support. Everyone deserves an education and it is his responsibility to help them achieve that goal.
