Marian University field hockey (7-5, 3-3 SAA) defeated Sewanee 7-1 in its return to conference action.
- Marian was able to start quickly with sophomore Jikke Biemans scoring off of a corner just 3:14 into the game, assist to sophomore Eva Houtackers.
- The Tigers responded with just 2:44 left in the stanza to tie the game at 1-1.
- The final three quarters was all Marian with the Sabres scoring twice in the first 1:54 of the second quarter.
- Both of the goals were scored by Eva Houtackers, freshman Angelene Castro and Biemans assisted the goals.
- This gave the Sabres a 3-1 lead going into the second half.
- Sophomore Allyson Nichols scored twice in the final 2:40 of the third quarter to give the Sabres a 5-1 lead. Houtackers and sophomore Merel Nagelkerke each had an assist.
- Sophomore Indi Rameckers then opened the scoring for the fourth quarter with an assist from Nichols.
- Nichols would conclude the scoring with her third goal of the game, another assist for Nagelkerke.
- Marian finished with a 40-2 edge in shots, 26-1 for shots on goal. The Sabres did not allow a shot in the second half.
- The Sabres also had a hefty advantage in penalty corners 18-2.
- Marian improves to 4-0 all-time against Sewanee.
