Juniors Giuliano Corazzina of Marian men’s soccer and Brenna Abrahamson of Marian field hockey have been named the Sabres of the Month for September.

Corazzina (Park Ridge, Ill.) led the Marian offense recording six goals with an assist during the month of September. He closed out the month scoring in three of the final four games of the month as Marian went 2-1-1. Corazzina posted a seven-point game against Lawrence where he recorded his first hat trick as a Sabre to go with an assist. After a two-goal game to open October, Corazzina now ranks third in the NACC with eight scores on the season. He also has moved up to 14th on the Marian all-time scoring list with 48 career points.

Abrahamson (Minot, N.D.) has been a crucial part of the successful start of the Marian field hockey program. She led Marian to a 3-2 start to the program during September including an even 1-1 ledger in SAA games. In those five September games, she made at least six saves and allowed two or fewer goals in three games. Abrahamson opened her field hockey career with an SAA Player of the Week award after leading Marian to wins over CUW and Earlham. In those two games, she made 15 saves with an .882 save percentage including the first shutout in Sabre field hockey history. Currently, Abrahmson ranks second in the SAA for save percentage and third in the conference for goals-against average.

Marian men’s soccer travels to Wednesday, October 5 for a 4 p.m. NACC match-up, while Sabre field hockey returns to SAA action at Transylvania Saturday, Oct. 8 at 10 a.m. (CDT).
