Joshua Clary

Dr. Joshua R. Clary serves as Vice President for Student Life and Diversity, Dean of Students, and Title IX Coordinator at Marian University. A mission-driven leader with more than 15 years of experience in Catholic higher education, Dr. Clary provides executive leadership for student affairs, athletics, community standards, and institutional culture. He oversees seven departments and leads initiatives that strengthen student belonging, retention, and mission integration.

Dr. Clary is a member of the President’s Cabinet and plays a central role in strategic planning, governance, and institutional transformation. Since joining Marian, he has led efforts that contributed to an 8% increase in first-year retention, expanded student organizations, revitalized the first-year experience program, and strengthened partnerships between student life and academic affairs. Known for his relational leadership style, he is committed to building inclusive, faith-centered communities grounded in dignity, service, and justice.

He holds a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and an M.S. in Student Affairs from Indiana State University and completed graduate theological studies at Saint Meinrad School of Theology. Actively engaged in national Catholic higher education, Dr. Clary serves on the Board of Directors for the Association of Student Affairs at Catholic Colleges and Universities.
