Professor, Education

Anthony Dallmann-Jones, Ph.D., widely known as “Dr. DJ,” is a nationally respected educator, author, artist, and advocate for underrepresented youth. For the past 10 years, he has served as Director of the At-Risk and Alternative Education MAE Program, also overseeing the alternative education add-on license for Wisconsin teachers. His work is rooted in a deep commitment to ensuring schools recognize and nurture the talents, strengths, dreams, and needs of students who have experienced trauma or come from dysfunctional family systems.

Dr. DJ is the author of 14 influential books, including How to Connect with Students At-Risk, Crabapple – A True Story of Hope and Miracles, and Shadow Children. He is also the founder and longtime director of the National At-Risk Education Network, leading the organization for 12 years, and a co-founder of the Wisconsin chapter (NARENWI), established in 2001.

Beyond education, Dr. DJ is an accomplished light sculptor and abstract painter, recognized as Wisconsin’s Artist of the Year in 2012. His artwork is featured at ShoreRoadGallery.com.

He treasures time with his wife, Amy, their Cocker Spaniel, Daisy, and family, splitting time between Maine and Wisconsin. Reflecting on his academic home, he shares, “Marian is the sincerest institution of higher education… dedicated, service-oriented, earnest, and kind.”
