EXCEL Program

Traditional undergraduate students who have the potential for academic success and a
strong desire to learn, but who do not meet general admission requirements, may be admitted to the EXCEL Program. Students admitted into the EXCEL program are accepted as regular degree-seeking students at Marian University. This program is designed to support students in their transition to the college by outlining the expectations and responsibilities of students for achieving both academic and personal success.

The EXCEL Program is open to full-time First-Year Freshmen or Transfer students with fewer than 15 semester credit hours. Anyone identified as a strong candidate for the EXCEL Program will either be offered direct admission or invited to provide an EXCEL Admission Needs Assessment appointment, conducted by an admission counselor to assess the proper fit of the program for the student. This interview also gives the student the opportunity to learn more about the program and its requirements. The results of this assessment are shared
with the students’ academic advisor to be used when creating an academic schedule and success plan.

For more information on the EXCEL program, please contact Susan Fuerbringer, Director, EXCEL and Undeclared Programs.

Admission is contingent upon the receipt of the student’s final official high school transcript after completion of their senior year. Homeschooled students must provide detailed course descriptions.
