Marian University to host chamber music concert, Dec. 9

FOND DU LAC, Wis. - The Marian University Music Department will present an evening of chamber music on Monday, December 9 at 7:30 p.m. in the Hornung Student Center on the campus of Marian University.

The two groups featured for the evening include a saxophone quartet, directed by Dr. Brian Lydeen, professor and director of Bands & Jazz Studies at Marian, and a steel drum band, directed by Scott Elford, Marian adjunct instructor.

The saxophone quartet program will include a wide variety of selections ranging from an arrangement of the traditional folk song "Black is the Color of my True Love's Hair" to the African American spiritual "Wade in the Water." The steel drum band will feature the music of Bob Marley and an arrangement of the traditional Christmas hymn "The Virgin Mary Had a Baby Boy."
