FOND DU LAC, Wis- Marian University students Katie Klotz and Faith Kintzler were re cently awarded scholarships from Soroptimist International of Fond du Lac. Klotz was awarded the $1,000 Virginia Wagner Award and Kintzler was awarded the $1,500 Women's Opportunity Award.
According to their website, Soroptimist International "is an international organization for business and professional women who work to improve the lives of women and girls, in local communities and throughout the world…Over 90,000 Soroptimists in about 124 countries and territories contribute time and financial support to community-based and international projects that benefit women and girls."
The Virginia Wagner Award is an award specific to the Midwestern states that can go to any woman attending college to receive either a bachelor's, master's or doctorate's degree. The Women's Opportunity Award is an award given to women who are the primary financial supporters in their family to help them gain "the skills-training and education necessary to improve their employment status and standard of living for themselves and their family."
