FOND DU LAC, Wis- Marian University hosted its annual Faculty & Staff Recognition Dinner on April 11 in the Stayer Center, presenting a number of awards to employees.
Leslie Jaber-Wilson, an assistant professor of Social Work, received the James Underkolfer Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching Award. The award was presented by Deborah Mahaffey of WAICU and Barb Dirkse and Al Gassner of the Alliant Energy Foundation.
The James Underkolfer Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching Award requires that the recipient of the award "demonstrate outstanding performance and excellence in undergraduate teaching" as well as "reflect the college's mission, purpose, and commitment." The yearly celebration of Marian employee achievements also included the Academic Advising Excellence Award, given to Dr. Bruce Prall, academic advisor for Chemistry and the Staff of the Year Award, given to Jennifer Krueger, director of First Year-Studies.
The Adjunct of the Year awards were given to Deb Bartelt and Ron Gruet of the School of Arts and Sciences; Sarah Austin of the School of Education; and Maria Marchuski of the School of Nursing and Health Professions.
Dr. Michael Ketterhagen, associate professor of Theology, received this year's Service Learning Award for encouraging his students to have a sense of both civic and social responsibility by incorporating service learning into all of his classes.
