Marian University English Department to Host an Evening of Wisconsin Poetry

FOND DU LAC, Wis. - On Monday April 8, at 7:00 p.m., in the Stayer Center Auditorium, the Marian University English Department's Writer's Reading Series will host an Evening of Wisconsin Poetry in honor of National Poetry Month.

The event will feature former Poet Laureate Bruce Dethlefsen; BJ Best and Karla Huston, finalists for the laureateship; David Graham and Cathryn Cofell, members of the poet laureate commission; and Max Garland, Wisconsin Poet Laureate, and author of the books of poetry: The Postal Confessions and Hunger Wide as Heaven.

"This is going to be a really special reading, a powerhouse night of poetry…To us, this is what poetry and the laureateship are about: a celebration of who we are and where we live, a celebration of the many voices," says Dr. John Walser, Marian University associate professor of English.

This event is free and open to the public. The honorarium that the event pays to the readers will be donated directly to the Wisconsin Laureate Fund.
