
AT A GLANCE
Joining forces with Carthage University, 4 eligible Marian Nursing students will travel to Nicaragua to experience life on the island of Ometepe in Lake Nicaragua. This 2-week program mixes medical clinical days with cultural immersion excursions in Managua, Granada and Ometepe. Students combine classes, volcanic crater hikes, canoe trips, and beaches, with medical work in rural clinics. Approximately 1,500 patients will be seen over the course of 10 days.
Academics:
- Students will earn 1 Nursing credit (replaces Transcultural Nursing course requirement)

- Summer 2013: Last week of May - first week of June (exact dates TBD)

- Pre-arrival orientation at Carthage College
- 1 Carthage credit
- Transportation to O'Hare Airport

- Endowed Medical Mission Scholarship exclusively for Nursing/Spanish double major
