Human resources (HR) professionals are critical players in all business organizations, big and small, publicly owned and private. From finding the right personnel and guiding staffing decisions, to setting company policies, finding sharp and intelligent HR professionals is crucial to any organization's future success. Marian's BBA in Human Resource Management will empower you to enter this dynamic field, or advance your current career in HR, through an in-depth study of recruiting, staffing, compensation theory, training and development, labor relations, and equal employment opportunity.

Designed to meet the academic and professional needs of Wisconsin working adults looking to advance their careers, the Human Resource Management program will deliver to you a solid theoretical base, an abundance of hands-on learning opportunities, and powerful connections with other Wisconsin business professionals.

The Core

The BBA core curriculum will position you to explore a variety of essential areas related to business, from statistics, accounting, and microeconomics to business law, strategy and policy, business ethics, and many more. Additionally, the business core will enable you to develop and sharpen crucial skills in communication, critical thinking, leadership, and writing, among others.

 The Curriculum

The Human Resource Management curriculum is designed to introduce and strengthen your knowledge and skills in a variety of areas that HR professionals encounter every day. From things like compensation and benefits, organizational training, HR management, and other areas, you'll engage in case studies, small-group discussions, and work-related research projects, developing knowledge that can be applied at your current job the very next day. The curriculum has been crafted with significant input from executives at some of the state's most respected companies and organizations.

The Convenience

As your neighbor, Marian is local, connected, and respected-employers know us and trust our graduates. We offer you convenient learning centers in Appleton, Fond du Lac, and West Allis Milwaukee, as well as convenient evening courses from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Some courses are available online; you can start your program in the fall, spring, or summer; and you'll be able to proceed through the program at your own pace by taking one or more courses per 7-week term.

Marian University has received specialized accreditation for its business programs through the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (IACBE), located in Olathe, Kansas. The business programs in the following degrees are accredited by the IACBE:

  • Bachelor's Degrees. Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with majors in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Health Care Administration, Human Resources, Management, Marketing, Sport and Recreation Management; Bachelor of Science with a major in Information Technology; Bachelor of Business Administration with majors in General Management, Health Care Administration, Human Resource Management, Marketing, and Operations Management.
  • Master Degree. Master of Science in Leadership with concentration in Organizational Leadership and Quality.

The degree program consists of a 37 credit common business core of courses that all students are required to complete. Students may then choose one of four undergraduate majors, including general management, human resource management, operations and supply chain management, and marketing. Students may also double major in health care administration.  Each major is comprised of 15 - 18 credit hours in the discipline. If students wish to complete two majors, additional credits will be required.

Business majors and minors may not earn a grade lower than C- in any business course. In instances where the student earns a grade of D+ or lower, the course must be repeated in order to graduate.
